| President leaves for the General Assembly of the United Nations Organisation in New York |

H. E. President John Evans Atta Mills will be absent from Ghana from the night of the 21st of September to the 4th of October 2009. During this period he would lead a delegation to attend a meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization in New York in the United States of America. Upon arrival in New York on the 22nd of September the President will have a One on One meeting with the Secretary General of the UN. Whilst in New York, President Mills will participate in a meeting with President Obama and Heads of States of countries contributing troops to the United Nations on the 23rd of September. The same day he will hold meetings with Prime Minister Gordon Brown of the United Kingdom and the President of the World Bank. On the 24th of September President Mills will address the General Assembly of the United Nations after which he would be hosted to a luncheon of members of the Ghanaian and American business community in New York by the Bank of America. In the evening of 24th September President Mills will meet and interact with members of the Ghanaian community in New York. President Mills and his delegation will also attend the South America-Africa Summit in Venezuela from the 26th to the 27th of September. The President will return to Washington DC in the USA on the 28th of September and hold meetings with the President of the World Bank on the 29th of September after which he will meet with members of the Ghanaian community in Washington DC. On the 30th of September he will participate in the America-Africa Business Summit organized by the Corporate Council of America. The President will depart from Washington DC on the 1st of October 2009 and arrive in Accra on the 4th of October after a brief stop in the United Kingdom. The Government delegation is made up of 15 officials including the President, staff of the Office of the President, Ministers of State and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. A number of security personnel and members of the media are joining the delegation. During the absence of President Mills from the country the Vice President H. E. John Dramani Mahama shall act as President of the Republic of Ghana.
