President Fullfills A Major Manifesto Promise

Science and Technology is the bedrock of  economic progress and  innovation for the attainment of middle income status evidenced by an improved quality of life and higher standard of living in the developed world. President John Evans Atta Mills is very much committed to rejuvinating Science, Mathematics and Technological studies  to accelerate development in his bid to build a ‘Better Ghana’

In fulfillment of the Promise contained on Page 73 of the National Democratic Congress’(NDC) Manifesto which states that “ The NDC government will set aside 2 percent of the Ghana Education Trust  Fund(GETfund) to provide need-based bursaries and scholarships for tertiary level students in Pure and Applied Mathematics, Science and Technology, The Minister of Environment , Science and Technology, Ms Sherry Ayitey launched the Mathematics, Science and Technology Scholarlship Scheme (MASTESS).

The Scheme is intended to provide needy but brilliant students with Financial support  to enable them persue their academic goals in these areas.

The Scheme is to also cover needy students in Senior High School, Vocational and Technical Institutions. The fund will be transferred from the GETFund into a special fund called the MASTESS fund which shall be disbursed by the Scholarship Secretariat.

Details of eligibility of applicants can be obtained from the Coordinator of the scheme at the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology.
