Following the shocking and horrific revelation of several roads and school projects that are supposedly executed by contractors but could not be traced, President John Evans Atta Mills has ordered an urgent forensic audit of all district assemblies in the country. The President has insisted that since resources expended on those invisible projects were public fund, the people must know how such fund had been used and to what extent they impacted on their standard of living.

The President who is very keen on public accountability and modesty of public officials said “I do not subscribe to witch hunting of political opponents which is unproductive and counter productive but sincerely believe there should be accountability of our tenure of office”.

This naked act of corruption, insensitivity and nation sabotage was discovered during a three day working visit tour of the Western and Brong Ahafo Region by the President
In all, twenty-one Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA) in the two regions owe huge debts that run into millions of Ghana cedis.  The President made this discovery when interacting with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).  The MMDCEs recounted the huge debts they had inherited and how they feared that in their first year in office they had to use the Common Fund to settle debts.
The action, President Mills said would go a long way to sustain public confidence in politicians whose image and credibility is on a very low rating.  He further warned the MMDCEs that he will never hesitate to dismiss anyone of them, found to be involved in corrupt acts.
