President Calls for Public Input into Policies And Programmes

In a manner of true democracy and all inclusiveness, His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills has time and again called for public involvement in the administration of our dear nation by calling on Ghanaians to constantly draw the attention of government to it weaknesses and shortcomings.


In a fatherly manner, the President has assured the citizen that nobody will be assaulted, mistreated or persecuted for subjecting our policies and programmes to criticism, since it is your civic right to comment on issues that affect the administration of this country.

The President has said, his government would always welcome constructive criticism in good faith to ensure that its policies and programmes impacted positively on the living conditions of the people.  President Mills has said the views and opinions of Ghanaians would be seriously considered in formulation of national policies and programs.

In addressing a durbar of Chiefs and people of the Sefwi Owenase in the Western Region, the President noted that the country needed peace now more than ever, to consolidate its gains made since turning to democratic rules in 1992.  Democracy President Mills has explained brought recognition and acceptance to Ghana among the comity of nations thus his commitment to ensure that the path of democracy remained unshakeable.
President Mills commented on the adverse economic plight of the country and assured the people that the government is taking the appropriate steps to revamp the economy to improve the quality of life of the people.

In a visit to the Zongo chiefs in Sunyani on Thursday, the President thanked them for their unflinching support and hard work in bringing the National Democratic Congress to power.  He noted that the government is so much aware of the high expectation of the people and said everything was being done to meet that expectation.
He urged them to contribute their bit wherever they are, towards the “Better Ghana” agenda; and also pray and hope for better days.

The President will end his working visit tour of the Western and Brong Ahafo Region at Tein, the decider of the winner of the 2008 election today the 31st of July, 2009.
